Long Weekend Fun: 6 must-do things in the Cape Winelands

Cape Town- There is so much you can do and enjoy in the Cape Winelands as it is one of SA's most sought-after tourism destinations.

 The Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM), 6th Annual Mayoral Tourism Awards which were held on 29 March 2017 highlighted some of the best destinations in the Winelands.

The annual event encourages tourism development by recognizing select regions' businesses, individuals and products for performance excellence in hospitality.

The latest event edition focused on Drakenstein, Stellenbosch, Witzenberg, Breede Valley and Langeberg.

Here are six must see destinations when in the Cape Winelands....

Spice Route Destination- Tourism Business of the year.

“We’re honoured and sincerely grateful to receive the award”, says Spice Route co-owner, Abigail Bisogno. Bisogno and her brother, Charles Back, who was recently titled most awarded winemaker in South Africa.

Franschhoek Cellar- New Tourism Business of the year

Stellenbosch 360 - Best Visitor’s Information & Services (LTA) of the year. 



Franschhoek Cap Classique & Champagne Festival - Tourism related event/festival of the year.

Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards - Wine Tourism Destination of the year

Le Bonheur Crocodile Farm-  Adventure, Outdoor and/or Ecotourism business of the year

There were Special Discretionary awards for individual in tourism which Dawn Jorgensen and the late Jenny Prinsloo both won.
